Voting is essential in getting your voice heard. More than ever, the women's right to vote is crucial in defining our future and what we want out of our local, state and national democracies. The League of Women Voters (LWV) has called on our community to continue the defense of nonpartisan democracy, reforms and equal ballot access for all Americans.
The League of Women Voters has three Northwest Ohio leagues that have partnered with regional organizations to celebrate the 100th anniversaries of ratification and the LWV’s founding. We’ve partnered with the LWV to promote the League and their efforts to give everyone in America the opportunity for their voices to be heard, no matter what level of government.
For the next 30 days, Jūpmode is donating $5 from every purchase of this limited edition “Votes for Women” shirt to the League of Women Voters. We want to help empower women working to create an equal democracy, as well as to celebrate the advocacy and education the LWV has provided us in understanding public policy at every level of government.
About the League of Women Voters:
The LWV was founded in Chicago in 1920, only six months before women had the right to vote through the 19th amendment. It was formed by the suffragists of the National American Suffrage Association in order to “help 20 million women carry out their new responsibilities as voters.”
At the request of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and after World War II, the League tirelessly campaigned for the establishment of the United Nations (UN) and the USA’s involvement in it. The League was later on one of the very first organizations recognized by the UN as a non-governmental organization (NGO), and still retains UN observer status today.
The League remains extremely committed to nonpartisanship and does not support or oppose any political candidate or party, but chooses to focus on the issues at hand, including election protections, democratic reforms and civil debates.
