For some of you young folks out there it might be hard to believe that women were not allowed to vote in this country until 1920. In all likelihood, that means when your great grandmother or maybe even grandmother was alive, women were not permitted the right to vote.
This year marks the 100 year anniversary of women's suffrage. The significance of that milestone and intersection with the Presidential election made this a timely release.
The design on the Votes for Women shirt is inspired by a vintage pinback button with the same slogan. 'Votes for Women' was a common rallying cry for women who were campaigning and protesting for women's right to vote over 100 years ago. It is still used to this day in remembrance of that struggle.
