Best Things to Do in Toledo When in Town for the Solheim Cup

by Molly Joyce

So, What is the Solheim Cup?

The Solheim Cup is a golf tournament held every two years. Twelve select women from the LPGA compete. Starting in 1990 and taking place in a different location each year, the Solheim Cup has been to many cool places! The 2019 competition took place in Scotland and we are so excited for Toledo to host the 2021 Summer competition.

This year, the Solheim Cup is scheduled to start on August 21st and go through September 6th. The Cup will take place at Inverness Country Club and it is expected to about 100,000 spectators will attend!

Toledo has a lot of fun things planned for this week. You can expect to see restaurants and venues queuing up local artists and extra fun to celebrate. And don't forget Gwen Stefani and Chris Young will also be here to celebrate the Solheim Cup with everyone at Promenade Park!

One thing you should know is, Toledoans have a lot of love for the Glass City and we can’t wait to share it with those who will be visiting for the Solheim Cup!

Need a break from golf? No problem. Here are our favorite fun things to do in Toledo.

2. Visit Downtown Toledo!

Toledo Skyline

In preparation for the Solheim Cup and all of our visitors, downtown Toledo has been working night and day finishing up construction to ensure that we are in top shape for our new friends.

While downtown has been filled with orange cones, exciting things are coming such as new restaurants, shops, parks, hotels, and even a river walk and cycle track. In particular, we can't wait to welcome award-winning restaurant from of Detroit, Bobcat Bonnie's among all of our new additions and redevelopment.

Toledo will be looking its best for you! In addition to all of the work, there are also fun events for you to attend. ProMedica is going to be hosting two nights of concerts for the Cup at Promenade Park. Sitting alongside the Maumee River, Promenade Park is the place to be for lively events, concerts, good food, and good vibes.

Need to grab a bite after a day on the course or before nighttime festivities? Here are some of our favorite restaurants that are staple to downtown Toledo:
